Marcus Bowcott studied Fine Arts at Douglas College, the Vancouver School of Art, and the Ontario College of Art.

• 

In 1984, he received an M.A. from the Royal College of Art in London, England.

• 

Images of large ocean going ships have figured prominently in Bowcott’s work for several years.

• 

The work began as a response to his prior working environment on the Vancouver waterfront.
